Billy The Bell

BILLY THE BELL

MUSIC THEATER FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES

‘Billy the Bell’ is a performance for families or schools for children from the age of 6 onwards. During the performance the audience will learn all kinds of things about bells, clocks and the carillon.

This performance has been on stage for some time now and has several versions.

Rocky 1 is played from the carillon tower. In this option it’s more a kind of narrative theatre: an actor in the audience tells the story and from above in the tower the carillonneur responds musically to it. Rocky  2 is a performance in a theatre and is played on the carillon on wheels. Then more interaction between carillonneur, actor and audience is possible.

In the past the Rocky the little Bell was performed  by professional actors such as Jan Bollen, Bregje Beckers and Inge Liefsoens.

The show has already been performed about 50 times, even in the USA. The original dutch name is "Rocky het Klokkie"

THE STORY

A SEARCH FOR IDENTITY

Billy is the smallest bell of the carillon but finds its position in the carillon not cool at all. There are few songs he can play along and he wonders if he’s in the right place as part of the carillon. Is he actually a bell? Maybe he’s rather a clock? And what kind of clock then?

Rocky sets off on a trip looking for answers. He crosses the whole of Europe and meets all kinds of interesting clocks and bells. A search for his true self…
